Manga Translation Not Working? Start Here

No translated text appears

Make sure the comic image has loaded, its dialogue is visible, and the source language matches the page. Try Translate this view on one readable panel before a whole-chapter batch.

If you installed or updated the extension while the chapter was open, reload the chapter tab. Check that the extension has site access in your browser. Browser settings pages and extension stores are restricted surfaces; test on a normal comic page instead.

Check the temporary error popup. In local mode, confirm your models are installed and enabled. In cloud mode, check that you are signed in and have available usage. If only Auto Translation is off on a new page, that is expected: enable it on that page when you want it.

A model download fails

Open Portal → Local models and read the error on the download row. Check your connection and available disk space, then retry the affected model using its card. Wait for both the download and startup to finish before translating.

Confirm that the selected model supports your language and device. A graphics-acceleration requirement will not be fixed by repeating the same download. Check Advanced performance for the capabilities reported by this browser.

The result is wrong or hard to read

Check the source and target languages first. Low-resolution lettering or decorative fonts can make text recognition less reliable; use a clearer original image when available.

Right-click translated text to open its menu. Use Edit translation to correct the wording, Text size to adjust readability, or Re-translate this bubble to request a new translation. Re-translation may use cloud usage depending on the mode you choose.

If original lettering still shows behind translated text, check your local Inpainting selection. For an older saved result that has already lost its background patch, switching a setting cannot reconstruct that missing image; retranslate the affected page and check the result before saving it again.

Local processing is slow

Separate model setup from reading speed: the first use can include downloads and model startup. In Portal → Local models → Advanced performance, leave Processor on Auto and check whether graphics acceleration is available.

Read the model cards’ compute requirements before choosing a heavier model. Try one view before a long chapter so you can judge the speed on your device. If local performance does not suit your computer, cloud translation is an optional alternative and needs an account.
