Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of MetelScan, including our website, browser extension, and related features. By using the service, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

MetelScan is an independent service run by an individual developer. Payments are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout. The provider's name may appear on your receipt and card statement.

2. Using MetelScan

• You must be at least 13 years old to use the service.
• MetelScan is a translation tool. We do not own, publish, or host third-party comics.
• Translations are for your own personal, private reading. Do not post, share, or scanlate the output.
• You are responsible for using it in line with applicable law, the terms of the sites you read on, and the rights of the original creators and publishers.
• If you use MetelScan on adult material, you are responsible for that choice. The service is still 13+.

3. Your account

• Keep your login details secure.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. What the service does, and its limits

MetelScan uses AI to detect, read, translate, and re-draw text on a page. Because it relies on machine-learning models, the results are not guaranteed to be perfect:

• Translations may contain mistakes, omissions, or awkward phrasing.
• Some text may be missed, merged together, or left untranslated.
• Rendered text may not fit its bubble perfectly or may be slightly misaligned.
• Some content may be refused by the underlying models under their safety policies.

Please review results yourself before relying on them.

5. Credits, billing, and purchases

• Local mode runs on your own device and uses no credits.
• Each new account receives a one-time grant of credits (currently 200) for cloud translation.
• You can buy credit packs or subscribe monthly for more.
• Purchased credits never expire.
• The monthly subscription renews until you cancel, which you can do at any time.
• Prices, packs, and included-usage amounts may change over time; changes do not affect credits you have already bought.
• Refunds and cancellations are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Acceptable use

MetelScan is a personal translation tool. You may only use it on content you own or that you otherwise have the right or permission to translate. You must not use MetelScan to infringe copyright or other rights, or to reproduce, publish, sell, or redistribute anyone else's work without authorization. There is no public MetelScan catalogue of comics. A Library in the extension lives on your device. The Raw sources page is a directory of stores, not our library.

• Do not use the service for unlawful, infringing, or abusive purposes.
• Do not try to bypass credit limits, billing, or anti-abuse protections.
• Do not attempt to reverse engineer, overload, or disrupt the service.

7. Your content

You are responsible for the pages you open by URL, the images you upload (including CBZ, ZIP, and PDF), and the chapters you save on your device, and you must have the legal right to access and translate them. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process a request and return your translated result. Translations are for your own personal use.

8. Third-party services

Parts of MetelScan rely on other providers, including PayPal or Paddle for payments, Cloudflare for hosting, Supabase for accounts, and external AI providers for some translation steps. Their availability can affect ours, and their own terms and policies apply. For how data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.

9. Availability and changes

Translation quality and uptime depend on third-party services, and performance may vary with demand. We may update, suspend, or discontinue features as we improve the service.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using MetelScan at any time. We may suspend or close an account if we detect abuse, fraud, attempts to bypass billing, or other risks to the service.

11. Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free results. To the maximum extent permitted by law, MetelScan is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost data or profits.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised version.

13. Copyright complaints

If you believe material processed through MetelScan infringes your copyright, email support@metelscan.com with the work, where it appears, and your contact details. We may remove access or close accounts that repeatedly infringe.
